AdBlue® and Nissan
The Titan XD is the first Nissan vehicle equipped with an AdBlue® tank
Nissan just announced its new almighty TitanXD model, which will be the first to comply with the Euro 6 emissions standard. Nissan will use SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology to reduce polluting emissions from its powerful 5 litre engine. Its new model will be equipped with a tank of AdBlue® with a minimum capacity of 15 L, necessary for the operation of the SCR system. The Nissan TITAN XD 2016, powered by a 5.0 l V8 Turbo Diesel Cummins, is now available for purchase at Nissan dealers in the United States. Its marketing in Europe will start in 2017.
What are the characteristics of the new 5.0 L engine?
Nissan and Cummins have worked together to optimise the calibration and specific equipment for the Cummins 5.0 L V8 Turbo Diesel since their partnership was initiated in 2007. The engine has undergone rigorous validation work with countless hours of trials and heavy testing before preparing it for production.
Cummins and Nissan were able to compromise between the power of an 8 cylinder turbo and regulatory compliance with regulations in force in the United States and Europe. Nissan has relied on the expertise of Cummins to equip its engine with control and air technology. The turbocharger double-decker Cummins M2 uses the EGR technology to limit NOx emissions at the output of the engine. Cummins reprocesses exhaust gases with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and a catalyst (SCR). This combination of advanced technologies allows the Titan to be close to 0 emissions.
