Ford: a new Euro VI engine is arriving in spring 2016
After the Courier and Connect vans, Ford has announced a Euro VI overhaul of its larger diesel models for summer 2016. These vehicles will be equipped with SCR NOx emission-control technology to comply with version “c” of the Euro VI standard. The Transit/Tourneo models should also have a new engine conforming to the new regulation. Other models such as Focus 2 and Fiesta, which are equipped with the 1.6 TDCI diesel engine, do not use AdBlue® to meet European regulations.
I have an old Ford car, do I need to fit it with an AdBlue® tank?
No, the Euro VI standard only affects manufacturers and therefore only applies to new vehicles released after the new version of the standard comes into force. Older models are subject to the previous Euro V and Euro IV regulations. So there is no need to worry about whether your model complies with the standard.
Where can I buy AdBlue® to top up my tank?
Currently, AdBlue® for passenger cars is only available in cans. You can find it at your local Ford dealer, at filling stations and even online. Fuel distributors plan to install AdBlue® pumps for passenger cars from this year onwards. Total has said that it intends to equip one filling station in seven with dedicated pumps for passenger vehicles by 2020.
