How to fill up with AdBlue® ?
With the arrival of the new Euro 6 emission control regulations, several manufacturers began to certify their diesel models by adding a SCR system that can purify harmful emissions. This technology works with the AdBlue® fluid, forcing drivers to refill periodically or else risk being unable to start their vehicles once the tank is empty.
This small act of maintenance can be stressful the first time when you do not know how to handle the situation.
Filling the tank : at the dealer or on your own ?
Car dealers tend to recommend that you do it at the dealership, just know that you can do it yourself without running the risk of invalidating your insurance or being unable to reset the alert on the dashboard.
Refilling with AdBlue® is not at all complicated. As for motor oil, refilling with AdBlue® can be done easily if you follow the right process.
How to fill up on your own ?
Get some AdBlue® (in general 5 L is enough) in a petrol station. When buying, prefer cans with filling pumps to work cleanly. Then, locate your AdBlue® tank inlet and empty the can into the reservoir.
Make sure you carry out this minor maintenance in a clean environment and away from dust to avoid contaminating your AdBlue®.
